This is a current project! All information correct at time of writing; October 2023.
The Baysie Rollers are currently working on a transformation project that will revitalise the carpark outside 5 and 7 King William Street through public art, seating, planter boxes and more.
The centrepiece of the transformation is a multi-building mural by local artist Graeme Miles Richards, which highlights both the history of the area and facets of present-day Bayswater.
Next up, we’ll be adjusting the parking bays to create space for seating, tables and planter boxes. Not just beautifying the area, these features will support our busy local cafes by providing overflow seating, and will encourage people to spend more time in our town centre, supporting local businesses.
Concepting began in 2021, before consultation with the community, local business owners and Development WA took place across 2022 and early 2023.
Graeme commenced work on the mural in late 2022. A community painting day was held in February 2023, enabling community members to get involved in adding to the mural. As at October 2023, the mural is almost complete. Stay tuned as we continue to deliver this project, with the help of the community of course!
We would like to thank our funding partners for this project: RAC WA, the City of Bayswater and the Department of Communities. We would also like to thank Friends of Oxfam, Ray White, Thornbury Holdings, Argon Business Partners, the Bayswater Traders Association and Harvey Construction for their support.
