Held in 2017 and 2018, Baysie Loves Bikes was a mini-festival held in celebration of Bike Week.
Presented in conjunction with Bayswater Primary School, Baysie Loves Bikes encouraged bike riders young and old to enjoy a day of bike activities, including a treasure hunt.
Our treasure hunt encouraged participants, either in teams or as individuals, to explore the Leake Street Bike Boulevard, newly opened in 2017, and hunt for clues along the route. Participants had to answer a series of 'riddles', uncovering Bayswater history and getting to know the neighbourhood.
To encourage safe cycling, the treasure hunt was not a race. Instead, every group or individual that completed the hunt throughout the day went into the draw to win a new bike!
Other activities on the day included BMX demos, a bicycle maintenance workshop, e-bike trials, a mountain biking obstacle course and mountain biking coaching, and free bike checks and massages (to keep both bikes and their riders in tip-top shape!).
Bayswater Primary School put on a sausage sizzle for all the hungry cyclists, attendees could blend their own smoothie with the Blender Bike, and we also had pop-up shops from EnviroHouse and Bicycles for Humanity.
Thanks to our supporters for this event: the Department of Transport and Department of Communities, City of Bayswater, Stuart Weston Real Estate, Bendigo Community Bank Bayswater, SRG Insurance, Muse Modern Interiors, WestCycle and Speedlite Cycles Maylands.
